Automatic note tagging

Understand how Monologue chooses a tag for a new Voice Note.

Monologue can automatically organize new Voice Notes using tags you have already created.

Set up automatic tagging

  1. Open Notes in Monologue.
  2. Create tags for the categories you want to use, such as Meeting, Idea, or Personal.
  3. Record a new note.

After the note is processed, Monologue compares its title and summary with your existing tags. It may apply one tag when there is a strong match. If none of your tags fits, the note remains untagged.

Automatic tagging never creates a new tag. Create the tags you want Monologue to choose from before recording a note.

Change an automatic tag

You can add, remove, or replace tags on a note at any time. You can also rename or delete tags from your tag list. Your manual changes are kept.

Custom instructions and tags

Modes and custom instructions control how Dictation handles formatting, spelling, and tone. They do not control which tag is applied to a Voice Note.

For context used in future note summaries, use About Me in Notes settings. About Me can improve a summary, but automatic tagging still chooses only from the tags you have already created.
