macOSv1.5.1Build 104

Faster dictation and more reliable Notes

Dictation finishes faster, Notes are easier to search, and shortcuts and recording are more reliable.

New features

  • Compose Beta: Use your voice to write or edit text with Compose, available when Beta Mode is enabled.
  • When you start a note manually during a detected meeting, Monologue now reminds you when the meeting ends, so you can stop and save or keep recording.
  • You can now attach diagnostic logs when sending feedback to help us investigate issues.
  • You can now remove the default push-to-talk shortcut and use only your preferred shortcuts, including hands-free recording.
  • Search Notes by text or tags, including notes beyond the ones already loaded in the list.
  • Choose, remove, or reset the shortcut that opens the mode picker while recording.

Improvements

  • Added 4-hour and 6-hour maximum recording length options for Notes.
  • Sign-in now opens securely in your browser and returns you to Monologue when complete.
  • Dictation now finishes and pastes faster after you stop recording.
  • For longer smart dictations, Monologue now prepares screen context and mode instructions before you stop speaking.
  • Voice vs keyboard insights now appear by default, with an option to turn them off in Privacy settings.
  • Made the menu bar recording indicator easier to see at different display scales.
  • The Dot is now visible during onboarding, so new users can see it before completing setup.
  • Clearer labels across the app and small layout improvements in Notes.
  • History now loads and scrolls more efficiently, with improved search highlighting.
  • Onboarding and shortcut hints now follow your configured dictation shortcuts.

Fixes

  • Copied note transcripts now use your assigned speaker names, including when copied from Notes or the menu bar.
  • Fixed an issue that could cut off the end of a dictation when you stopped recording.
  • Mode choices made from the Dot or recording controls now stay assigned to the current app or website.
  • Pressing Escape to cancel dictation no longer also dismisses dialogs or other controls in the app you are using.
  • Improved Dot placement so it avoids hidden input fields, does not pin to a window too eagerly, and resets correctly after your Mac wakes from sleep.
  • The Dot now hides during Apple Pay authorization to avoid interfering with payment controls.
  • Note uploads now retry temporary network and server failures automatically, including after your connection returns. Recordings stay on your Mac if the upload fails.
  • Improved recovery of interrupted note uploads to avoid creating duplicate notes or preparing the same audio again.
  • Fixed repeated Keychain permission prompts when opening an updated version of Monologue.
  • Prevented multiple copies of Monologue from running at the same time. Opening another copy brings the running app forward.
  • Fixed meeting detection for FaceTime and Phone calls.
  • Made meeting-end detection more reliable when a meeting app closes.
  • Improved reliability when stopping audio playback or deleting and retrying dictations in history.
