About Monologue

Monologue is an app for dictation, voice notes, and meeting notes. It grew up inside Every, a media and software company.

Our story

Before Monologue, Naveen Naidu spent months building AI products at Every. People tried them, but they rarely became something people used every day.

Then he built a small Mac app for himself. The first version was simple: hold a key, speak, and the text appeared wherever the cursor was.

Two days later, he brought it to Every’s Friday show-and-tell. Colleagues started using it for messages, emails, and coding prompts, and came back to it the next day. Soon they were using the prototype hundreds of times.

Naveen kept working on it, and that Mac app became Monologue.

What Monologue does

Monologue began with dictation. It now also captures voice notes and meetings, without adding a bot to the call.

People can return to what they said, share it, or make saved notes available to supported AI tools through MCP, API, and CLI access.

Monologue is available on Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, with different capabilities on each device.

How we work

Start with a real problem

Monologue began with a problem Naveen had himself: ideas arrived faster than he could type them. We start from problems specific enough to build against.

We use Monologue ourselves to write, code, and talk through ideas, which shows us what needs to get better.

Stay close to the people using it

We read support messages, watch people try Monologue, and talk to people who use it every day. Problems that keep coming up help us decide what to work on next.

Care about craft

We treat how the software moves, sounds, responds, and recovers as part of what it does.

Made at Every

Monologue grew up inside Every, a media and software company.

The Every team were its first users. They used it in their work, reported bugs, and helped shape how it looked, sounded, and felt. Writers, designers, engineers, and operators all had a hand in turning the first build into Monologue.

Monologue Pro is available on its own and is also included with an Every subscription.
