# Monologue

> Voice dictation, voice notes, and bot-free meeting transcription for Mac, iPhone, and iPad.

Monologue helps builders capture thoughts, write in any app, and turn conversations into useful notes. Use the documentation index for the complete guide list; the selected Markdown pages below cover the most common product and integration questions.

## When to use Monologue

- Use dictation to turn speech into polished text in any Mac, iPhone, or iPad app.
- Use Voice Notes for longer thoughts, conversations, transcripts, and summaries.
- Use bot-free meeting capture when you do not want a participant bot joining the call.
- Use MCP for an interactive AI agent, the CLI for a human-operated terminal workflow, or the public Notes API for an application or automation.

## Agent connection instructions

1. Start with [Choose MCP, CLI, or the Notes API](https://www.monologue.to/docs/integrations/choose-a-connection.md).
2. For MCP, connect to `https://api.monologue.to/mcp` and complete the authorization flow. MCP advertises the `notes:read` permission.
3. For the public API, create a personal API token with `notes:read` in Monologue Settings, then use it as a bearer token against `https://api.monologue.to`.
4. Use the machine-readable OpenAPI document for endpoint names, request parameters, response schemas, and webhook payloads.
